Remember, Kona coffee only constitutes less than one percent of the world’s total coffee supply and ‘true’ Kona coffee only comes from the Kona coffee volcanic slopes on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Grading the quality and categorizing by quality, size, defects and weight are extremely important to the quality control process of one of the world’s most delicious (and expensive coffees). T here are 5 Primary Grades of Kona Coffee and those graded green coffee beans are bought by our roaster and kept until roasting. We then roast the beans as close to the point of sale as possible to assure the freshest coffee arrives to our customers no matter where they live.
The No. 1 Grade Kona beans are slightly smaller than Kona ‘Fancy’ beans, but are nonetheless of an incredibly high quality. The beans have very few defects and are uniform in density.
The medium-sized Kona #1 coffee beans deliver a mild but snappy flavor. They are medium-bodied, with smooth consistency, a rich nutty aroma, and lively acidity.
100% Kona #1 coffee delivers an exceptional price to quality ratio. If you want a reliable, affordable 100% Kona coffee, Kona #1 is the bean for you! If it’s difficult to decide, try our Kona Coffee Sampler and decide which is your favorite!
