Out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, 1,000 miles from L.A and 2,000 miles from Japan…American farmers grow coffee on 4 of the 8 Hawaiian Islands…and they’ve been doing so for over 200 years!  Kona coffee grows on the Big Island of Hawaii with it’s unique climate of seasonal rainfall and sunny blue skies.  What really creates the key ingredients for these coffee trees and beans, is the high elevation growing anywhere from 700 ot 3,000 feet up on the slopes of two volcanoes, Mauna Loa and Hualalai.  Add the high elevation to the unique mineral-rich volcanic soil…and you have magically distinct coffee that is one of a kind in its superiority.  A coffee that is unequivocally right in itself – mellow, smooth, yet rich, with plenty of body. This is a coffee unique in flavor, high in demand… and relatively scarce in supply!  Coffee, brought to Kona in 1828, was originally grown on large plantations, but now grows on 600 small, three to eight acre farms The Kona coffee belt is an area that is roughly only one mile wide by thirty miles long.  Kona coffee undergoes a stringent system that classifies the beans according to size, weight and number of defects, which is then certified by the State of Hawaii.
